World Bullfight
Los Forcados Queretanos http://es.groups.yahoo.com/group/losforcadosqueretanos/message/3
My name is Germán Goyeneche and I am
the chief (cabo) of the Forcados from Querétaro (Mexico). I want to comment on
the recent World Bullfight that took place in Stevinson, CA in August, 24. We
were invited to participate in that bullfight. We were so excited for the
invitation and we accept to be part of this event. We are so grateful with the
bullfighter and businessman Dennis Borba, who invited us to the World Bullfight.
Personally, I met the Borbas since many years ago. I have worked with them in
some taurine proyects and bullfights in Mexico and USA. I am convinced that they
are excellent people and the recent World Bullfight was an example of their
success. Their father, Frank Borba (who died last month), was precursor in the organization
of bullfights in USA. All the family Borba has continued this prestigious tradition. Some days ago, I received a message with the
chronicle of the World Bullfight from José Ávila and Miguel Valle Ávila. José Ávila said: “the Forcados from Queretaro
lack technique on how to “torear” novillos before they grab them an essential parto
of pegar (grab)”. Also he commented that “the forcados grabbed all six novillos
and they were very lucky that the animals were small and did not cause any
physical harm. Another problem was that the novillos horns were manipulated
(cut) more than normal to protect the Forcados. This causes a problem on how
animals behave during their faenas.” My
group of forcados and I are not sand and angry.
We are against this kind of comments that destroy the “fiesta brava”.
The people who criticize with this falsehoods, it is because they did not have
the courage nor the nutgalls to be a bullfighter. This person does not know
about the extraordinary trajectory of the Borbas, the matadors and our group of
forcados. Forcados from Queretaro are
one of the best groups in the world. We have invited to grab in many countries:
Portugal, Spain, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and recently in USA. In
Mexico, we have grabbed in all the bullrings of the country including the
Monumental Plaza de Toros México. The
truth is that the World Bullfight was really successful. All the assistants
enjoy the bullfight and saw an historical event. My group and I grabbed on each
toro, not usually done in USA. Only one
toro had horn covers. This animal corresponded to the horseman Dennis Borba and
to the group of forcados. We did very well with our first grab. The next bulls
were not manipulated because they were not for portuguese style. These bulls
were “en puntas” like all the animals for ordinary bullfights. They were affronted
before by the matadors Michel LaBravere, Arturo Gilio, Lima de Estepona and
Carlos Rondero. With the toro #12, we have some problems but a vuelta was
granted for us. With the third bull, we had a good grab. The lead forcado
(forcado de caras) tried twice solo and ended up with the group on third try.
The fourth bull was difficult. We grabbed two times. The next was the worst
animal of the night. We have two tries and the second grab was good. Finally,
we have problems with the last animal in the fist try but we did better on second. That’s all for now, we hope to be in the
World Bullfight next year and continue working with the Borbas. We are so
grateful with them and the enthusiastic people who saw our presentation in
Stevinson, CA. Kindly regards…Germán Goyeneche. Forcados from Queretaro.
